Our story
Founded by our director Kyle, Safe Backpacker is proud to be the only organisation with the dedicated mission of ensuring that everyone travelling and backpacking in Thailand can create countless unforgettable, and lifelong memories while also prioritising their safety. We understand that travel, especially solo backpacking, can sometimes come with unexpected challenges, so if things don’t go exactly as planned, you can be rest assured that we will be there to provide support and assistance whenever you need it.
Kyle’s personal journey with Thailand began in 2018 when he embarked on a solo backpacking trip with no fixed itinerary or clear idea of how long he would stay—whether it would be just one day, a week, or even a month. This spontaneous adventure turned into a profound and lasting love for Thailand, a country known for its stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and incredibly welcoming people. Kyle on his first journey ended up staying for 4 months and has returned countless times since, for months each time. This experience gave Kyle a deep appreciation for what makes travel in Thailand so special, as well as an understanding of the kinds of challenges solo travellers might face.
Back in the UK, Kyle has developed a strong and diverse skill set that perfectly equips him to lead Safe Backpacker. For the last four years, Kyle has served as a trustee and team leader for a safeguarding and welfare charity. Roles that required dedication to protecting vulnerable individuals and managing complex situations with care and responsibility. Additionally, Kyle also has three years experience working in the UK ambulance service that has given him firsthand knowledge of emergency response and the importance of quick, effective support in critical moments. On top of this, Kyle has practical experience running family businesses, which has helped him hone leadership, organisation, and problem-solving skills. By combining all these experiences, Kyle was able to launch Safe Backpacker with a clear vision: to provide a trusted, compassionate, and reliable support network for travellers exploring Thailand, ensuring they can enjoy their adventures with confidence and peace of mind.
